Sadly, it remains a leading cause of death and serious injury in workplaces today. At ATS Rail & Construction Training, our working at heights course is designed to equip you with the essential skills necessary to mitigate these risks effectively.
Throughout the course, you will learn to identify work requirements, follow appropriate procedures and instructions, access and install equipment safely, perform tasks at height, and ensure the cleanliness of work areas afterward.

Important Information
COURSE PRE-REQUISITES
Applicants MUST hold:
- CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
- Particpants MUST be 18 and above years of age
PPE REQUIREMENTS
The practical will be completed in a simulated environment and full PPE will be required. The following PPE is required:
- Safety work boots – steel capped, lace up with ankle support.
- Full-length pants
- Long sleeve shirt or long sleeve high visibility shirt
- Hi-vis vest
- Hard hat
- Safety glasses eye protection
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LL&N)
Before training begins, participants will go through an assessment that helps us determine if any learning support is needed. To successfully complete this course, participants are expected to have the following language, literacy, and numeracy skills:
- Interpret and comprehend workplace safety signs and symbols.
- Comprehend workplace policies, procedures, and informational materials.
- Comprehend basic spoken English.
- Communicate essential safety-related information
OTHER REQUIREMENTS

ISSUING OF CERTIFICATES
ATS as provider of this training will issue and email you an electronic copy of your Statement of Attainment within 5-10 business days of completing the course. Your Statement of Attainment is issued by ATS as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
Other Things to Know
PROOF OF IDENTITY:
Participants are required to bring one of the following current valid photo identification documents (ID) on the day of training:
- Australian or International Passport
- Driver’s Licence
REPLACEMENT CARDS
The cost for a replacement ID card due to loss or theft is $45.
ONSITE TRAINING
If the training is to be held on a clients site, the following will be required:
- Access to a training room
- Access to yard
- Access to elevated environment
Assessment Methods
To be deemed competent, participants are required to successfully complete a combination of the written and practical tasks which form an assessment instrument.
Delivery Methods
The delivery of this course is face-to-face in a combination of classroom and practical activities in a simulated environment.
